Weekly Story #6: Learn the radical 口!

Take a look at radical 口 (kǒu)! It’s a commonly used radical in Chinese characters, and it means 'mouth'! 口 is found in many characters which relate to the mouth or speech, such as 否 (deny), 吃 (eat), and 叫 (call, shout). It can also add a meaning of enclosure or containment to a Chinese character, such as in 圍|围( surround).
So, make sure you know about the 口 radical - it's a very useful one!

有一隻小貓經常偷吃東西。
每次主人發現時，它總是發出無辜的“喵”叫聲，來否認偷吃！
有一天，主人開玩笑地問小貓：「是不是你偷吃了鳥兒的食物？」。
小貓立刻否認，發出一聲“喵”。
主人又問：「是不是你偷吃了魚兒的食物？」。
小貓再次否認，連續發出很多聲“喵喵喵”的叫聲。
儘管小貓老是用叫聲否認偷吃食物，但主人心裡明白，不老實的小貓其實是個吃貨。
English
There is a little cat that often steals food. Every time the owner discovers it, it always lets out an innocent "meow" to deny the theft!
One day, the owner jokingly asked the cat, "Did you steal the bird's food?"
The cat immediately denied it with a "meow".
The owner asked again, "Did you steal the fish's food?"
The cat denied it once again, repeatedly uttering multiple "meow meow meows".
Although the cat always denies stealing food with its meows, the owner knows deep down that the dishonest little cat is actually a foodie.

儘管 (jǐn guǎn) - despite, although 不老實 (bù lǎo shí) - not honest, dishonest
jǐn guǎn xiǎo māo bù lǎo shí, zhǔ rén xīn lǐ míng bái tā qí shí shì gè chī huò
儘管小貓不老實，主人心裡明白它其實是個吃貨。- Although the little cat is not honest, the owner knows deep down that it is actually a foodie.
